KEEP YOUR SECRETS

Introduction

In our increasingly complex world, individuals from various backgrounds, including Christians and non-Christians, often struggle with keeping their secrets. Failing to maintain secrecy can have detrimental consequences, especially in a society where people can become prey to one another. Despite the façade of love and care we present, the reality is that we inhabit a world with a dark side. Acknowledging the inherent wickedness in humanity, as described in the Bible, poses a significant challenge when it comes to discerning genuine friendships.

The Struggle to Keep Secrets

Many individuals, regardless of their religious affiliations, find it difficult to keep their secrets hidden from others. In a world that often exploits vulnerability, the stakes of revealing personal information can be high. The consequences of failing to guard one's secrets can lead to harm in various aspects of life, including relationships, careers, and personal well-being.

The Recognition of a Dark World

While we are called to love even our enemies, it is essential to acknowledge the presence of wickedness within humanity. The Bible aptly describes the human heart as desperately evil, even from a young age. This acknowledgment reminds us that not everyone we encounter will have pure intentions, and it reinforces the need for caution in trusting others completely.

Micah 7:2-6

[2]The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

[3]That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

[4]The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

[5]Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

[6]For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

The Bible teaches us that even the best among us can sometimes be like a prickly brier, indicating that their best actions may not always be truly virtuous. They have the potential to commit evil and may even entertain wicked thoughts deliberately.

It is unwise to place blind trust in a friend or have complete confidence in a guide. People can disappoint us and, if we invest all our time and emotions in them, they may take advantage of us and strip us of our belongings. Entrusting them with our trust may result in a broken heart.

In this modern age, the importance of keeping secrets cannot be overstated.

Identifying a genuine friend becomes a challenging task in a world where people's hearts are often shrouded in mystery. The ambiguity surrounding others' intentions—whether good or bad—makes it difficult to discern who truly cares for our well-being. It is crucial to approach relationships with wisdom and discernment, not blindly assuming that everyone we encounter will have our best interests at heart.

Today, in 15 JULY, 2023 I had a conversation with a driver while boarding his car, and the topic of discussion was the importance of keeping secrets.

The driver shared his personal story with me, explaining how a wealthy woman had regularly hired him as her chauffeur. This woman, who always had money, would rely on him for transportation every day. His fellow drivers, who observed this arrangement, couldn't understand why he always had passengers who were women. One day, one of his colleagues boldly predicted to his face, "You'll see, this woman will start using my car instead and abandon you."

To the man's surprise, the woman ended up assisting him in purchasing his own taxi car. She allowed him to pay for almost half of the car's price in installments. Eventually, he became the sole owner of the vehicle. However, his friends, consumed by jealousy, spread malicious lies about him to the woman. Consequently, their once amicable relationship deteriorated. The woman no longer treated him kindly as before, even ignoring him when they crossed paths on the road.

Instead, she began using his friend's car, the very person who had foretold that she would abandon him. Isn't this a prime example of wickedness? Our world is full of darkness and complexities. It serves as a reminder that we cannot truly know the intentions of those who smile and appear friendly.

The Word of God advises us to exercise caution even when it comes to trusting our own family members. It is not a personal philosophy or observation; it is a divine instruction that calls for discernment.

In fact, the Bible teaches us that trusting a mother or siblings without reservation may not always be wise. While family bonds are important, we are reminded to approach relationships with a critical mindset.

Genesis 25:21-34

[21]And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

[22]And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

[23]And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

[24]And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

[25]And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

[26]And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

[27]And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

[28]And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

[29]And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

[30]And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

[31]And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

[32]And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

[33]And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

[34]Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

The Bible cautions us not to place blind trust in even those closest to us, including the women we hold dear. It reminds us that our own partners can betray us and lead us into great trouble, just as Sampson experienced when his girlfriend betrayed him, causing his downfall. Therefore, the Bible emphasizes the power of keeping secrets.

It is difficult to discern whether a friend may possess malevolent intentions or even be involved in occult practices aimed at destroying our lives. The supernatural realm itself is known to keep secrets from both humanity and other supernatural beings. This serves as a reminder that we, as ordinary individuals, should exercise even greater caution and discretion.

Genesis 18:17

[17]And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;

You may not know the heart of the man or woman closer to you.

You may trust their smiles but you can't determine what is inside.

Someone took my Facebook account, and to my surprise, they hacked it on my birthday—the day I was celebrating with nearly 12,000 followers. It's likely that this person is someone who follows me closely, possibly even someone close to me, and they seem to harbor resentment towards the progress I've made in terms of social media followers.

After approximately two weeks, I managed to regain control of my account. However, I discovered that the picture I had posted to celebrate my birthday had been intentionally deleted. It's evident that this individual didn't want me to enjoy the multitude of well-wishes and likes that typically accompany such a day. It's rather amusing, isn't it? 😂😂
